I am almost ready to start the Acne No More program. I read the book and def agree that diet must play a major factor. Note, the book is not only about what you put into your body, it covers everything from what you take out of your body (via cleansing and flushing routines), to skin care, environment, stress reduction, sleep; wow, just about everything. With it, I am able to make a 2 month plan about everything I do. Sounds strict a bit, but without a detailed plan, I feel I'd fail more by making last minute bad decisions (like for eating), than if I had a guide for myself laid out that I could follow the best I could and cheat a little sometimes (still in moderation), as the book says this would not ruin the whole program for you. I recommend reading this book! : )

There is much more to the cause of acne than simply changing your diet. You have to also take into account the society that we live in, stress, enviromental aspects and so on. I am in my late 20's and my acne is now worse than it has ever been. I am currently on the contraception pill Dianette that combines as acne treatment. I have been taking it for about 4 months and it's not really made much difference, except for drying my skin out. I did become a vegetarian for a little while ..well actually vegan and that did help my skin quite abit...but it didn't clear it completely, so it begs the question, if eating nothing bad at all will still leave you with acne, what on earth will work. I really believe that the cause of acne is different for each person, for some it's the food they eat, for some its stress factors and how ones body deals with it etc. In short, there is no miracle cure in drugs and diet, it's about finding what works with your body best. Start with diet, try cutting out different things. Dairy products to start with (as the human body is not designed to handle dairy effectively), then if that does nothing try ditching meat for a while as the fats in all animal meat can't be good for you. When you think about it logically..the chemicals that animals are pumped with to make them fatter or the antibotics they are given to keep them well......it all goes into your body when you eat it. Don't get me wrong...i am not longer a vegetarian as it's a hard lifestyle to maintain, but give these things a try and test what works best with your body. If that doesn't help, try medication (baring in mind the long term effects of these types of drugs on your body). ALWAYS drink plenty of water...if it does nothing for your skin, it will still clear out your system. Anyhow, this is my two pence worth. Don't know about the book, i've read enough of them and i've honestly found that no one book gives you all the answers.

Just curious about any input, I have had acne since I was 12 years old and it has never been completely cleared. I am now 33 and it is worse than it has been in years. I understand what you are saying about diet. I don't have the best diet, but I also do not have the worst. My nails and hair are both very healthy, so I can't seem to figure out what is wrong w/my skin. I have tried everything and now my dermatologist wants me to take accutane and I am very worried about the side effects. I have 3 children and have no plans to have any more, so birth defects are not a concern, but just the long term effects are what I worry about. I am looking for any alternative that I have not already tried before I resort to accutane. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Well I am not too sure about that. I have always had more problems with my skin when I eat poorly and when my eating gets better so does my skin
